Consequently, the Start menu on each computer will be arranged a bit differently. Your Start menu will change as you add more programs to your computer. Click the Start button once, and a stack of menus pops out. Note that removing the folders from the Start menu does not remove the files stored in the target location of the folders affected. Although the Windows 7 Start Menu is similar to previous versions, there are some differences that you’ll want to get to know. The Start Menu will immediately reflect the change and remove the folders unselected from Start menu so that the folder is no longer displayed on the Start menu. Per default, Start Menu X comes up when you click the Start button or the keyboard shortcut SHIFT + Windows key.For Computer, Control Panel, Documents, Games, Music, Pictures, System Administrative Tools and Personal Folder (container folder with logged on user name as folder name), click on Don’t display this item radio button individually instead to remove the folder from Start Menu. ![]() Folders that can be removed and hidden from Start Menu by unselecting check box include Connect To, Default Programs, Favorites Menu, Help, Network, Printers and Run Command. In Windows 7 and older operating systems, the most frequently used programs are listed in the left section of the Start menu, with the folder All Programs. In the “Customize Start Menu” dialog, uncheck and untick the check box for folders that you doesn’t want to appear in Start Menu.The Classic Start Menu does not have the folder shortcuts on right pane of Start Menu feature. Click on Customize button for the Start Menu.Microsoft has integrated the desktop search application. In the “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties” dialog window, make sure that you’re at “Start Menu” tab.
